Bad weather tips for your wedding day

Bad weather wedding tips

Italy and Lake Como are heaven on earth and surely one of the best regions for your destination wedding.
Lake Como it's a lake and near lakes sometimes it can be rainy. :-)
I know that you will get married at the best time of the year but what to do if it's a rainy day?
In Italy, we believe that rain on a wedding day is a sign of blessing and luck but of course if you plan a memorable outdoor wedding the only thing that you have to do is to have a wet wedding weather plan.
You need to keep an open mind and think of bad weather as an opportunity to have an epic and different wedding day.

  1. You can buy things you might need like umbrellas or wellies;

  2. Be sure you have an indoor or covered option for your ceremony and reception if everything goes wrong;

  3. Be flexible. In more than 10 years of photographing weddings and elopement in Italy I’ve never had it rain all day with no breaks so keep that in mind and choose a location where there are no chances to become wet and muddy;

  4. Ask your hair & makeup artists for water-resistant makeup and for tips on retouching your look;

  5. Embrace the weather for your couple shooting to get epic stormy weather pictures! Be sure to have some change clothes and spare shoes. Be sure that your family and guest have a warm and dry place to stay while you are getting your pictures;

  6. Don’t panic and keep calm: you are with friends and family they love you and if you keep calm and happy they will stay with you and will give you all the support that you need. The weather is out of your control, you can only control your outlook on it. Set your expectations reasonably and stay optimistic. If weather causes something to go wrong, remember that no wedding is perfect, what you see on the internet exists only on the internet;

  7. Keep an eye on the forecast. If the weather looks like it will be a problem do not ignore it, plan for this ahead of time by investing in things that will make the day much more comfortable.

Bad weather wedding tip

Remember that most of the Italian wedding locations are equipped for bad weather situations and if you hire a wedding planner she or he will think about any possible weather you will find on your marriage day.
As a photographer, I prefer a nice day but I know that love is the most important thing!
Interiors, especially if you are going to get married in a Villa or in a charming Hotel or you are eloping and you rent an epic Airbnb can be a great choice for your couple session while the outside weather is not good.
During my wedding photographer career, I met some couples that really enjoyed the day without thinking too much about bad weather.
Remember to always set the right mindset and expectations and to think about the B plan with LOVE the only necessary ingredient for your wedding day.
The professionals that you hire are there to help you get things done in the best possible way, they are professional and they have a lot of weddings experience so it’s a good idea to ask and to listen to their advice.
